Before making a telephone call, you need to know exactly what you want and prepare for situations that may come up unexpectedly
1. Prepare your message
2. Imagine that someone else picked the call
3. Decide to leave or not to leave a message
4. Imagine lines are not very clear
5. Bid farewell
6. Think of the possibility of an answering machine
Opening
You should use the following expressions when opening a conversation.
• Hello
• Good morning
• Good afternoon
• Good evening
• Hello, am I speaking with Mr Aboubakar? Yes, speaking (if you are responding to the question)
• Hello, SGBC.
• “Good morning, my name is Mr Francis Eret; and I am calling you on behalf of _____________.”
• “Good afternoon, I’m [YOUR NAME] from [INSTITUTION].
• “Hello, this is ____________ and I am calling you from _______________.
